If you are of Vanderbilt fan then you are riding the high that the team gave you during their season in 2009. The Commodores proved to their opponents that they are here to make a statement in college football. This is the good news, the bad news is that they are looking at a tougher 2010 season as their team has taken a few hits with the loss of core players due to graduation or the NFL draft.
The team is going to have to put a lot of work into their team this season in order to rebuild and have a season that will be as good as last season. The Commodores are still trying to make sense of their loss to Tennessee in their last game last year.
This loss was the biggest blemish that the team suffered on their season. They even took down teams that everyone though they would lose to. Now that Pete Carrol is no longer at the helm then look for Tennessee to be a victim to the Commodores in 2010.
In the running back position there will be several holes that will leave Vanderbilt weak when they try to run the ball in 2010. This weakness will hurt Vanderbilt in the offense department. On the other side of the ball there is hope when it comes to stopping their opponents.
The Vanderbilt defense is expected to be one of the strongest this season. There will be a very tough job of getting the ball into the end zone past the Vanderbilt defense.
Now there are several hopes that the fans of Vanderbilt are looking forward to when February 3rd rolls around the reason for this is because this will be signing day for the team. Vanderbilt have several prospects that they are hoping will sign to play for the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Even without these signees there are several players that are on the Vanderbilt roster that will be able to give the team a chance to win games and build upon their season that they had last season.
The head coach of Vanderbilt truly believes that this year they will be able to take the team to a BCS game that will put the team on the map as a contender for the National Championship.
Now I will admit that I am not going to be looking for the Commodores in a major BCS game this season. The reason that they will be held back is as stated before there is a hole that exists in their running game. This is a must for any team to be successful in football.
Now if the air game stays healthy then there is a good chance that Vanderbilt will be able to make an impact on the scene.
In the end there are several things that will need to be aligned in order for Vanderbilt to have a decent chance this season. If these things do not come together than the team will not be as successful as they were last year.
This is going to be a dry season for Vanderbilt and will result in a lot of fans not being 100% behind them.
